IPL stands for intense pulsed light. Similar to laser, it is a type of light therapy used to get rid of unwanted hair. During treatments, hair follicles are exposed to intense flashes of light which disrupt the hair growth cycle, leading to permanent hair removal in the desired area over time. IPL is also used to treat wrinkles and spots.

The process of IPL therapy starts off with a device emitting an intense flash of light. This light gets absorbed by the melanin (dark pigment) in your hair follicles. Because of this, people with very light hair will not be able to see results since their hair does not contain enough melanin. On the other hand, people with the darkest of skin tones will not be suitable as the device may target the skin rather than the hair follicles. 

You will see a noticeable difference in just 2-3 weeks, and full results within 8-12 weeks, depending on your hair situation.

Make sure not to tweeze, wax or epilate the desired area because this will take away the root of the hair follicle.
